Registering for accommodation

Our Halls of Residence are well-loved by students – we're in the top 10 in the UK for accommodation by WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2024.

When do I need to apply for accommodation?

It’s important to research your options in advance and be open-minded. Whether you go catered or self-catered, with private or shared bathroom facilities, your experience will be an equally incredible one.

You don’t need to do anything to secure your accommodation until after you have replied to your offer on UCAS. Once you have replied to your offers, the process is slightly different for firm and insurance choice offer holders.

If you make ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ your firm choice through UCAS and register for accommodation before the end of July, we will guarantee you a room in University accommodation for the first year of study.

ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ is your FIRM choice

You will be able to register for accommodation online from late May. The Student Accommodation Centre will email you with instructions on how to register for accommodation and reserve your room later in the year.

If you have a conditional offer:

If your offer has conditions attached, such as achieving specific qualifications, you will be able to apply for and reserve your accommodation on 14 or 15 August.

If you have an unconditional offer:

Students with an unconditional offer will benefit from early room reservation from 5 June to 15 July. After 15 July, unconditional students can only reserve a room on 14 or 15 August.

ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ is your INSURANCE choice

You do not need to take any action regarding your accommodation until you have received your results in August and your place at the university is confirmed.

You will then be able to select three accommodation preferences based on an area of campus, room type and catering option. Please note that accommodation is not guaranteed for insurance choice students, but we do promise to help you secure University allocated accommodation either on campus or by referral to a university approved off-campus provider.

If you have a physical or mental health condition

Students with physical or mental health conditions are able to apply for accommodation early, reserving their rooms from June. You must complete the Disability and Health Portal as soon as possible, and our Student Wellbeing and Disability team will let us know what adjustments you might need in your accommodation.

Deferring your place until 2026?

If you intend to defer your start date to September 2026, you will be able to register for accommodation from early May 2026. You will receive an email from the Student Accommodation Centre with instructions on how and when to do so closer to the time.

Accommodation after first year

Students can return to halls throughout their studies at ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ – we reserve 30% of our rooms for returning students!

If you are an international fee paying student, we will guarantee you accommodation in university halls for two years of study if you re-apply for halls before the February of your second year.

Consider going Catered

Did you know that a standard room (shared bathroom) with catering is cheaper than a self-catered en-suite room? That's a year worth of meals for the substitute of an en-suite! Catered halls not only save you money, they’re more convenient and more social too!

ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ has seven catered halls offering varied, healthy home-cooked meals to suit all tastes. We cater for a range of dietary and religious requirements, just let us know of your needs. Watch our catered accommodation to see what's available at ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ.
