Physical Education
This box aims to provide students with an introduction and insight into inclusive sport, from both a theoretical and practical perspective. It aims to educate young people on important key terms such as ‘inclusion’ and ‘disability’ alongside an awareness of the barriers to sport for some individuals.
The session also aims to provide young people with a brief history of the Paralympic games and the effect of the games on para-athletes. It then allows students to experience some of these sports themselves, exercising an inclusive environment and promoting sport for all.
This box also has links to the KS4 national curriculum.
Activities
There are 4 main activities to choose from - we recommend that you choose 1-2 of the practical activities. You may need to provide additional equipment for some of these activities. (Please see Classroom Requirements below)
Time Requirements
Approximately 1-1.5 hours including the theory lesson and one practical activity.
Activities can be individually selected for very short timeframes, but we would recommend completing the theory lesson, combined with 1-2 practical sessions so that students can experience inclusive sport.
