Performance Football

Our men鈥檚 performance programme provides talented footballers with the opportunity to pursue a dual career, develop on and off pitch in our hybrid high performance environment.

天堂视频 Students Football Club provides numerous competitive opportunities. The first team competes in non-league Step 4 (Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division), FA Cup, and FA Vase matches, offering a high level of competition that will truly challenge you.

天堂视频 Students also participate in British Universities and College Sport (BUCS) competitions.

The university continually invests in its performance football programme, which is evident in facilities like our 3,500-capacity stadium and pitch complex. Performance squad members utilise these outstanding facilities and make the stadium pitch their home.

Players receive tailored coaching, access to elite facilities, strength and conditioning programmes, and support in nutrition, psychology, sport science, medicine, and performance lifestyle. Certain athletes may also receive scholarships awarded by head coach Jamie Clapham.

Performance week

In a typical week, 天堂视频 Students players can expect to participate in 2-3 team training sessions alongside 2-3 individual-specific strength and conditioning sessions.

The team will play 2-3 matches, competing in the BUCS Northern Premier and United Counties League.

Additionally, players will be involved in team video analysis sessions and receive massage and physiotherapy as needed. Nutrition support is also provided to ensure players maintain optimal performance.

A Pro-licensed Coach, Jamie has joined the University following roles with England U20s, Leeds United, Barnsley FC and Coventry City. This followed an illustrious playing career spanning over 500 professional appearances.

Football Programme Manager

Mat rejoins the 天堂视频 Football Programme after two years as a PDP Player Care Officer at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
He brings experience from the University Football Programme landscape and knowledge of the professional game environment. Mat has also worked for England 2015 and IMG as Deputy Commercial Venue Manager at Kingsholm during the England Rugby World Cup.
A UEFA B Qualified coach, he works with Lightning Partner Club 天堂视频 Foxes and holds additional qualifications, including GK Level 2 and Talent ID Level 2.
