Healthcare
In the UK, the National Health Service (NHS) provides some healthcare services to everyone free of charge.
The following services are free for everyone through the NHS:
- Consultations and treatment provided by a GP and other ‘primary care’ services.
- Emergency treatment (but not follow-up treatment)
- Family planning services
- Diagnosis and treatment of certain communicable diseases
- Compulsory psychiatric treatment
Students are strongly advised to register with a GP practice so that they can access treatment more easily. You can find more information on how to register with the GP.
