ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ Teaching Recognition Scheme (LUTRS)

Our Teaching Recognition Scheme, accredited by Advance HE, enables anyone who is involved with teaching at ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ to develop an application to gain teaching recognition through fellowship of Advance HE. Our open programme of workshops enables you to tailor your own professional development and learning that will support you with your application to achieve the appropriate level of Fellowship that meets the experiences and responsibilities of your current role.

It is important that you choose the right Descriptor level (category of Fellowship), most appropriate to you; this is based on the breadth and range of your teaching experience to date and the responsibilities of your current role. Supporting Learning (Descriptor 1, Associate Fellow)

Appropriate for these Roles

Doctoral Researchers (DRs), Post Graduate Teaching Assistants (PGTAs), Post Docs, Research Associates (RAs), Graduate University Teachers (GUTs), University Teachers, technicians, technical tutors, librarians, professional services staff linked to teaching and learning.

Eligibility Criteria​&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • Must have an employment contract at point of registration on the scheme
  • Minimum of one year teaching and learning experience
  • Minimum of 20 hours current teaching and learning practice

New Teachers at ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ (Descriptor 2, Fellow)

Appropriate for these Roles

New Lecturers who are enrolled on the PG Cert, Graduate University Teachers (GUTs), University Teachers, technical tutor, professional services staff linked to teaching and learning.

 Eligibility Criteria​&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • Must have an employment contract at point of registration on the scheme
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching and learning experience post PhD â€‹
  • Minimum of 30 hours current teaching and learning practice​ (and experience of a full academic cycle is helpful)

  • Must have an employment contract at point of registration on the scheme
  • Minimum of 4 years teaching and learning experience
  • 3-5 years in a leadership role (for Senior Fellow)

Leading Learning (Descriptor 3, Senior Fellow)

Appropriate for these roles 

Programme directors, Associate Deans, professional services staff linked to teaching and learning.

 Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have an employment contract at point of registration on the scheme
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching and learning experience
  • 3-5 years in a leadership role (for Senior Fellow)
  • 3-5 years in a senior strategic leadership role (for Principal Fellow)

The Next Steps to Achieving your Fellowship

Once you have identified the category of Fellowship most appropriate to your experience and aspirations, please follow the below steps:

1. Book on to one of the ‘LUTRS: Advance HE Q&A’ workshops through myHR (online workshop) you will need to search for the workshop name in the ‘Learning’ menu

2. Visit the learn page for further information and guidance on completing your application for Fellowship –

3. To support your ‘continuing professional development’ element of your application we would highly recommend attending workshops from our open programme -

4. Before submitting an application for your fellowship you should attend Developing your Advance HE application sessions Part A and Part B. 

5. You will be supported in the final stages of your submission with a mentor. You can with a mentor. You will be asked to bring a draft of your application to these meetings to support discussions.
