LGBT+ History Month is an annual, month-long observation of the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history, established to recognise and celebrate the history and achievements of LGBT+ individuals. LGBT+ History Month started in the early 1990s in the United States and this year, celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Each year, LGBT+ History Month has a different theme, and this year’s theme is Activism and Social Change, celebrating the work of LGBT+ people who have helped to create social change and shape society, such as Octavia Hill, Ivor Cummings, Annie Kenney, Charlie Kiss and Olaudah Equiano.
