Outlook on your mobile device
Outlook for iOS and Android gives you access to your emails and calendars on the go, keeping everything in one place.
You can also use the Outlook Web App to gain access to your email, calendar and contacts online. The information below will direct you to external sites for downloading and first time setup instructions of Outlook on your mobile device.
Please Note: When you leave the University your account will enter an expiry period of 30 days within which you can still access your email for important information. Once this period is complete, your account will expire and you will no longer be able to access your emails.
Passcodes, PIN codes, or passwords for mobile devices
Device unlocking
For passcodes, PIN codes, or passwords used only to unlock a device (e.g. a smartphone or tablet), ensure one of the following credentials is in place:
- Biometric (fingerprint, face ID)
Plus
- Password (8 or more characters in length)
or
- PIN (8 or more characters in length)
Where it's possible to configure, you should apply one of the following:
- limit unsuccessful login attempt to allow no more than 10 guesses in 5 minutes
- locking devices after more than 10 unsuccessful attempts.
Android setup instructions
- Install the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play Store
- Open Outlook and click Get Started
- Outlook may detect other email accounts which you can add or press the Skip button for now
- Enter your full University email address, then tap Continue
- Enter your University Password, then click Sign in
iPhone/iPad setup instructions
- Install the Outlook for iOS from the App Store
- Open Outlook and enter your full University email address, then click Add Account
- Enter your University Password, then click Sign in
Mobile data
How to connect to a Hotspot (Tethering)
There may be occasions you will need to use your phone's mobile data to connect a laptop or table to the internet.
Sharing a connection this way is know as tethering (or hotspoting) and most modern smart devices can share their data connection with other devices in this way. The links below will provide information on how to do this with using your mobile device.
