School achieves success in the Guardian University Guide 2025

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved strong subject rankings in the Guardian University Guide 2025.

  • 4th for Communication and Media Studies
  • 4th for International Relations
  • 5th for Criminology
  • 5th for Geography
  • 11th for Politics
  • Top 20 for Sociology

The national league table ranks subjects across eight measures of performance, including teaching satisfaction and their chances of getting a graduate level job after graduating.

Professor Elizabeth Peel, Acting Dean for the School commented: “We are thrilled to have achieved these results across the school. We are committed to providing our students with the highest quality teaching and the skills that will take them into their chosen career, so we are delighted to be recognised for this in these rankings.”
