Sam Amiri received his BSc degree in Software Engineering in Iran, in 2007. He later received his M.Sc. degree in Embedded Systems from Masaryk University, Czech Republic, in 2010, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the same institution in 2014. He then continued as a Researcher at Queen’s University Belfast in 2015—2017, and later at University of Bristol in 2017—2018. He then joined Coventry University as a Lecturer in Analogue and Digital Electronics in 2018. Sam is currently a Lecturer in Microelectronics / Embedded Electronics in 天堂视频. His main research interests include hardware design, embedded systems, and signal/image processing.
Dr Amiri's main research interests are in the areas of hardware design, embedded systems, and signal/image processing. Several research topics which he has been involved with are:
- FPGA-based acceleration of image processing applications
- Heterogeneous FPGA-based multiprocessing
- Acceleration of machine learning algorithms
- Remote monitoring of symptoms and human activities
- Automated surveillance/delivery drone design
