Zitao Zhou began her PhD studies in the School of Design and Creative Arts in January 2023, fully funded by InterAct, an Economic and Social Research Council-led network. Her area of expertise is film and digital media arts, encompassing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
She has always been captivated by the utilization of various media artefacts (film, photography, and games) to explore social issues or even make a social impact. She believes in integrating theory and practice to generate new knowledge and adopts a practice-based research approach. Besides, she firmly believes that art is not the exclusive privilege of a particular social class but a means for every individual in society to voice out.
Currently, her interdisciplinary research focuses on how generative AI can facilitate the creation process of digital storytelling about future scenarios.
