Stefan Nikoli膰 is an economist with expertise in applied economics and economic history. He joined 天堂视频 in September 2023, having previously worked at Bocconi University. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of York, and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Groningen. Stefan has taught a range of modules in economics, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, covering economic principles, macroeconomics, economic growth, and business, financial, and economic history.
Stefan’s research examines spatial inequalities in economic performance. He combines historical data and economic methods to explore why some areas are more economically developed than others. His research focuses on central and south-eastern Europe. He has published in The Economic History Review, Explorations in Economic History, European Review of Economic History, and has several R&Rs with leading international refereed journals. He has also contributed four chapters to edited volumes published by Routledge and CEPR press.
Stefan has presented at prestigious conferences held at the Chicago FED, Harvard, MIT, Oxford, and LSE, and has delivered invited seminars at world-leading institutions including University College London, Humboldt University, and Cambridge University. His research has been presented in meetings of the Royal Economic Society, Economic History Society, European Historical Economics Society, Regional Studies Association, and Urban Economics Association, amongst others. He has also won several international teaching fellowships and research awards.
