Summary of project activities and outcomes:

The research focus was on developing and/or improving workable processes to provide water supply and sanitation services for the poor in public-private partnership. Collaborators included: International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) London and Halcrow Management Sciences, Swindon. Key outputs focused on a series of case studies involving urban and rural situations to investigate different organisational relationships. Guidelines for formal and informal PPP arrangements including monitoring indicators for better water and sanitation provision for the poor, were also developed.
