Summary of project activities and outcomes:

Research into what makes for effective and sustainable demand-led WASH interventions during transition from relief to early recovery in natural disaster and conflict-affected emergency responses, in both urban and rural contexts. This lead to the development of a framework for strategic analysis and planning of demand-led interventions in the early stages of an emergency response that could be adapted into a logframe format to support project planning, monitoring and evaluation. The research process and reported findings accounted for a wide range of contexts and changes possible in the operating environment during transition. Field-level data collection was conducted in Haiti and the Darfur region of North Sudan. The project was funded by USAID, OFDA. This demonstrates our ability to plan, conduct and analyse research within highly insecure and restricted operating environments, developing quality research-led processes and analysis, as well as practitioner-relevant findings and recommendations.
