Summary of project activities and outcomes:

The WELL Resource Centre aimed to improve access to information and support in the areas of water, sanitation and environmental health. WEDC was the lead partner managing the following:

  • Provision of a technical enquiry service, a document service, maintenance of a website with downloadable sector documents and reports
  • Design and implementation of a capacity development programme with partner organisations to provide similar services
  • Sector studies, concise outputs are produced disseminated, for example a series of Briefing Notes which demonstrate the contribution of water, sanitation and environmental health to the achievement of various Millennium Development Goals and targets beyond the specific environmentally related objectives
  • Responsive consultancy services supporting DfID WASH sector project development and evaluations
  • Dissemination of programme outputs through websites and knowledge products targeted to specific audiences

Partners included: LSHTM, IRC in Europe plus: TREND – Ghana, AMREF – Kenya, NETWAS – Kenya, IWSD, Zimbabwe, SEUF – India and ICDDRB – Bangladesh.
