Summary of project activities and outcomes:
African Water aimed to increase involvement of African researchers in the water-related components of EU Framework Programme 7 (FP7). Its focus on water included all related topics with significance to the international development process, as is prioritised by international discussions, and falling within the scope of current and future EU Framework Programmes.
WEDC was the lead partner with responsibility for:
- Leading the communication activities directed at low technology water supply and sanitation sector
- Dissemination of information on African Water and opportunities under FP7, through distribution of the 1st African Water newsletter and by presence at relevant conferences and through other networks
- Development of synergies with relevant complementary initiatives
- Development of training material for use in Member State water training centres which have with substantial African participation
