Summary of project activities and outcomes:
The purpose of the SAWAP programme, supported by its twin objectives, was:
- To promote country and inter-country effort to identify, test, and promote large scale use of innovative solutions to sustainable sanitation, water supply and health, particularly for the poor, to include:
- on the ground verification of costs and effectiveness;
- the identification of enabling policy, regulatory and institutional environments; and
- improving the flow and efficient use of resources.
WEDC was responsible for identifying how the proposed DFID programme could best support SAWAP by carrying out a stakeholder analysis. This was used to support WSP planning processes, considering options and start up needs.
