Summary of research
James completed his PhD project “Development of a Novel Method to Measure the Interaction between the Human and their Apparel”. The PhD project was sponsored by the adidas Innovation Team and aimed to improve the future development and testing of sports apparel. Following his PhD, James has continued to work as a Research Associate at the Sports Technology Institute developing optical measurement systems and supporting other research projects using these techniques. Additionally, James also works on adidas-funded research projects across a range of areas, including football boot traction, football aerodynamics and human measurement.

Background
James completed his Bachelor’s Degree at the Sports Technology Institute in 2017, before that studying Maths, Physics and History at A level.

Non academic interests
Outside the lab, James is an avid cyclist, enjoying road and mountain biking equally, as well as combining his love of cycling and wild camping in bike packing. He is also an accomplished landscape photographer, having produced his own calendar and produced some printed works.
