Enabling impactful careers
The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) with input from PHC members is a launch pad for Para sport excellence. We provide graduates with the academic and professional experiences they need for rewarding, impactful careers.
Our undergraduate, master鈥檚 and PhD programmes are influenced by world-leading research delivered by internationally renowned academics.
Students who study at the SSEHS benefit from expertise and opportunities which has helped 天堂视频 become the number 1 ranked university in the world for sport-related subjects (QS World University Rankings – 2017-2023).
In our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, students learn directly from the PHC’s academic staff who are advancing knowledge across the continuum of sport, exercise and rehabilitation.
We compliment teaching excellence with hands-on learning opportunities through partnerships that have included British Wheelchair Basketball, Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby, Lawn Tennis Association, British Paratriathlon and our local 天堂视频 Lightning (wheelchair basketball) team.
Preparing students to excel in Para sport and health and well-being disability professions
At PhD level we have increased the possibilities for students to have local, national and global learning experiences to prepare them to excel in tomorrow’s Para sport and health and well-being disability professions.
International travel opportunities are made possible through a long-standing partnership with Santander Universities and the University’s Institute of Advanced Studies, which further leverages an invaluable global research community.
Jonathan Riall, former Paratriathlon Head Coach, explained: “What started as support from a range of practitioners in 2009, grew into more immersive partnership roles, with opportunities for students to conduct MScs in specific questions posed by the sport; supervised by a team who were growing closer to the core task of the sport as we progressed through the Rio cycle and into Tokyo.
“Tokyo plus Triathlon was the perfect mix of ingredients to throw up a number of really rich academic questions, that if tackled well, would benefit the sport and create potentially one of the most effective competitive advantages at the games in 2020 – and that’s what the past five has seen.”
