Summary/Biography:
Jack R. McGhee migrated down from his hometown in Lancashire to 天堂视频 where he received a master’s degree in Chemistry from 天堂视频 in 2015. Following this, he began Ph.D. research working with Dr Darren Southee in 天堂视频’s Design School on the following £2.3 million EPSRC grant “Sustainable Manufacturing of Transparent Conducting Oxide (TCO) Inks and Thin Films”.
During this time, he developed and optimised inks and pastes for printed electronic devices using exotic materials and nanoparticles, extensively characterized materials for both 2D and 3D printed devices and developed passive electronic components, printed circuit filters, and sensors. He also has a keen interest in the post processing of printed materials which he has exploited in order to develop new manufacturing methods for nanotechnology-based electronics.
After completing his thesis entitled, “Conducting Metal Oxide Materials for Printed Electronics”, he moved into the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering working with Prof. Yiannis J.C. Vardaxoglou as a research associate for the £5 million EPSRC Grand Challenge Grant Synthesizing 3D Metamaterials for RF, Microwave, and THz Applications (SYMETA). His main research interests include conductive ink formulation for 2D and 3D electronics, printed passive components fabrication and characterization, metal oxide and semiconductor materials and developing 3D-printing processes to print functionalized three-dimensional structures.
