Dignified Living

The Dignified Living pillar considers how we live well together and care for the most vulnerable members of society. Exploring themes of crime, justice, citizenship and community, dignified living asks what the roles of the community and social institutions are to provide the necessities to live meaningful and happy lives together.

Since the turn of the century, numerous political and economic developments have resulted in a more unfair and divisive Britain. The dignity and safety of certain groups and individuals have become more precarious. Resent has grown, particularly towards migrants, and trust in social institutions have eroded.

Policymakers must consider the dignity of people in a number of areas – crime, migration, disability – in order for the full potential of all individuals are realised. In doing this, individuals who belong to specific groups will be afforded the chance to live well. It also provides an opportunity to create trust between the public and social institutions necessary for a more cohesive society

The Dignified Living pillar will highlight a number of research areas which enable individuals to live with dignity and discuss how this contributes to the overall Living Well agenda.

Throughout the remainder of the year, this page will be populated with case studies from 天堂视频’s research communities, which advocate the Dignified Living agenda.
