Discoverers
For children up to two years old.
In the Discoverers room, we understand the difficulty parents often feel when leaving their children in a nursery for the first time.
We aim to:
- Ensure all families feel supported during the settling in process by discussing the needs of the family and developing an individual routine for each child.
- Recognise and respect that all children are individuals and differ in their skills, abilities and cultural backgrounds and incorporate this into the rooms program.
- Foster each child's individual development and needs by means of encouragement, supervision and role modelling and by providing a wide range of experiences that foster all areas of development as well as taking into account each child's interests.
- Provide an environment which is warm and inviting and allows the children to develop and learn new skills through play.
The room was completely refurbished Summer 2015 and reflects calm neutral colours with access to heuristic and natural resources.
A designated area for sleep has been created enabling children to rest and sleep to their own routines.
A daily chart, which shows what your child has eaten, how much they have drunk, how much they have slept and information about their nappy changes.
Children have access to outdoor play areas, the "secret garden" is accessed directly from the room and the larger all weather play area is just along the corridor.
To help us make sure your child stays comfortable throughout the day we ask that you put a couple of changes of clothes in your child's nursery bag along with any comforters they usually use e.g. dummy, soft cloth, special soft toy.
