Experts in Sport: Making decisions in sport with Ed Smith – Ashes special

With the much-anticipated Men’s Ashes series is set to get underway at Edgbaston this week (Friday 16 June – Tuesday 20 June) with the latest Experts in Sport podcast featuring an in-depth interview with a man who knows what it takes to compete at the very highest level of cricket.

Host Martin Foster sits down with Ed Smith, the former England international batter and ex-National Selector for England cricket.

Now in a role of Co-Founder of the (ISH), Ed talks about his time with England cricket, detailing how change was delivered within the culture of the sport. Additionally, he dissects his decision-making process when selecting candidates for the England team.

He also discusses his recent book: “Making Decision” and the development of the ISH.

ISH recently partnered with ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ to run the innovative Leadership in Sport Masters. The course is designed for current and future leaders to study alongside busy jobs and busy lives. The new intake starts in October 2023 and applications are currently open.

Ed is the former National Selector for England cricket. He is an author (‘Making Decisions’), academic and journalist (New Statesman, BBC and Sunday Times). As a professional cricketer, he played for Kent, England, and was club captain of Middlesex when they won their first major title for 15 years.
