Winner: The 28 Day Anti-Racist Challenge
The ‘28 Day Anti-Racist Challenge’ offers a platform for colleagues to recognise their privileges, whilst advancing their knowledge of antiracist concepts and practices. Organised and facilitated Coordinated by Bonnie Erdelyi-Betts, this challenge has taken the form of a book group that enables small groups of staff to move beyond the practice of optical allyship – towards meaningful advocacy and allyship. The challenge is based on the book ‘Me and White Supremacy’ by Layla Saad.
Nominees
David Wilson
As a tireless advocate for the LGBT+ community, David raises awareness of issues and fights for positive change with an incredible depth of research and knowledge. David has also led a number of specific projects to inform and educate colleagues on various parts of LGBT+ culture and life, all whilst working with IT colleagues to develop University systems so they move beyond the traditional gender/sex binaries.
Female Coaches Leadership Program
The 天堂视频 Sport colleagues behind this program did not want to just be talkers in the EDI space, but actually do something to address a lack of female coaches and future female leaders. This programme in Partnership with UK Coaching is the first of its kind in the University environment to embark on it. The initiative involves multiple workshops where coaches are able to learn, develop and implement applied leadership and coaching skills. Mark Jarram and Nat Marshall were the driving force for the planning, implementation, and delivery of this hugely inspiring, empowering, and impactful project.
Joseph Bou-Nassif
Over the last year, Joseph has been integral to the setup and development of the latest University staff network – the Early Careers Network. Recognising that 天堂视频 staff in the early stages of their careers lacked a mechanism to share their voice and connect with peers, Joseph proactively (and successfully) advocated for change. Joseph has aligned the network not only with the immediate needs of its members but also with the broader strategic goals of the University.
