Student Food Sustainability Hackathon

ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ this event

On Wednesday 12 March, all students are invited to join this exciting and exclusive opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals from across the University to co-create ideas in answer to the question: How can students take collective action for food sustainability on campus?

This event is open to those with an interest in food and sustainability and anyone with a desire to network and contribute to something special.

Taking place in Martin Hall from 2pm-6pm followed by a sustainable buffet, the event is free to attend and refreshments will be provided. There is limited capacity so please book onto the event as soon as possible.

The Student Food Sustainability Hackathon gives you the chance to voice your opinion and pitch ideas to some of the key figures at the University. It brings together students, the Sustainability Team, and University academics in a one-off event to get creative and be proactive in thinking about the future of food and sustainability at the University, but also to understand how our role as a university impacts the natural world and the global community.

You will have the chance to develop a range of skills by:

  • Increasing your understanding of food sustainability (climate change and net zero) not just at a university level, but also on a global scale
  • Collaborating with other students to map and explore your ideas
  • Pitching proposals to important University contacts
  • Creating social media content to promote your ideas

These are great ways to develop skills that could make you stand out to future employers as well as inspire the next generation of students.

The aim of this event is to engage students in collective food sustainability action, which is becoming increasingly important for us all to address given the current climate crisis. The Students Sustainability Hackathon supports the University’s strategic theme of limiting environmental impact and climate change and achieving net zero.
