Supervisors: Dr Lars Nagel and Dr Robert Mercas.
Research areas: Distributed Algorithms, Random Walk, Bin Packing and Load Balancing. He completed his first PhD project on the topic of the Vector Bin Packing and Vector Scheduling problems which are theoretical models for the resource allocation problem in Cloud Computing. In the project, he designed a fast and efficient heuristic based on the local search technique. The algorithm is shown as competitive with algorithms from literature and the work has been transferred into a paper to be published. Currently he is working on his second project which studies co-scheduling topics in the context of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Computing. The work aims to make predictions on the delay of co-scheduled applications in the compute nodes such that the contentions among co-scheduled applications can be considered by the scheduler. His research interests include heuristics, combinatorial optimization problems, and scheduling in Cloud Computing and HPC.

Biography

Ze started his PhD in the year 2020 after he achieved his Master's degree from 天堂视频 with distinction in Internet Computing and Network Security. During his PhD period, he worked as a teaching assistant for several courses: Introduction to Algorithm, Distributed System, and Data Mining for undergraduate and MSc students.
