Research and expertise
I have experience in programming, reviewing, and implementing smart IoT projects for vulnerable people. I completed my MSc graduation project in building a smart camera switch 鈥淭hing鈥 that allows people with upper-limb disabilities to control the light using their eye blinks.
I have attended many specialized courses such as Drupal 8 Site Building, Linux Internal, and System Programming, Robotics App using Arduino, Python, C++ and Java programming languages, and Raspberry Pi IoT applications.
Current research activity
My research interest is in designing and creating technologies for vulnerable people and enable them to be independent in their daily tasks. Currently, my PhD research (Indoor environmental design for a Dementia Friendly Home using smart IoT technologies) focuses on designing and creating a dementia-friendly home for people with dementia and their carers using smart IoT technologies. My research is cross-disciplinary as indicated by the selection of the supervisors. I am supervised by Professor Malcolm Cook and Dr Ben Roberts from Architecture Building and Civil Engineering (ABCE) and Professor Eef Hogerverst from the School of Sport Exercise and Health Science (SSEHS).
Recently completed research projects
-
Improving Medical Intervention Systems with Smart IoT Technologies: designed and created a novel eye blink switch to enable people with upper limb disabilities to control the light using their eye blinks.
-
Assessing IoT security and privacy risks and challenges in drone-based systems for smart cities.
