The awards are running for the second consecutive year in collaboration with GUCCI.The initiative and was open to all art and design students graduating in the year 2020-21 in any related creative discipline, located anywhere in the world.
Weiling Huang (BA Industrial Design and Technology 2021) was shortlisted for the Product, Architecture and Interiors award for her project ‘’ designed for compact kitchens to enhance the quality of micro-living. The aim of the product’s design is saving countertop space and utilising one appliance for multiple uses as it is functional as a kettle, blender and vegetable cutter.
Megan Lincoln (BA Industrial Design and Technology 2021) was shortlisted for the same award for her project ‘’. SONA is an ultrasound device enabling non-specialist clinicians to carry out a breast ultrasound with AI analysis to provide instant feedback allowing patients to find out their results on the spot.
Samantha Tung’s (BSc User Centred Design 2021) project ‘’ is a package-free grocery delivery service that aims to make shopping more convenient for time-starved young professionals and parents. By bringing the products to their doorsteps, the service eliminates the inconvenience and laborious process of conventional package-free shopping. The project is the third shortliste in the Product, Architecture and Interiors category.
Sara Osman (BA Fine Art 2021) was shortlisted for the Fine Art, Photography and Craft award for her installation project ‘’. Her work was inspired by devastation to Eastern architecture, particularly representing the obliterated Gaza strip in Palestine. The alumna intended to recreate a small fragment of the crisis to allow the viewers to experience the same level of vulnerability, fear and sadness as displaced civilians.
Voting closes Wednesday 13 October and the winners will be announced on Monday 18 October.
