The alumni have recently returned from a tour of North America, where the Red Arrows performed displays across numerous states and partnered with the US display team, the Thunderbirds.
Jon is currently Red 6 and flies as part of the synchro pair, performing exciting manoeuvres during air displays. The alumnus is embarking on his third year as a Red Arrows pilot, having previously been Red 2 and Red 7.
Chris is Officer Commanding Engineering Support Flight and has completed his first RAF tour with the display team. In his role as an engineer, Chris has been responsible for the engineering standards and safety of the team. Having spent a year with the Red Arrows, he will soon move to a new squadron.
The pair discussed their careers in the armed forces with a focus on the RAF and their experiences with the world-famous display team. Students learned about the Hawk, the range of display types, speed of flight and the structure of the Red Arrows team.
Jon graduated with a BSc in Air Transport Management in 2005 and completed an MSc in Transport Policy and Business Management in 2006. Chris graduated with an MEng in Aeronautical Engineering in 2014.
Thank you to Jon and Chris for volunteering their time.
